The Eros Return - Personal Astrology

 

It’s my Eros Return this year and I say this year because of the retrograde action. My natal Eros is at 7 degrees 30 minutes Capricorn conjunct Saturn at 7 degrees 50 and most significantly a close sextile Neptune/Venus conjunct in Scorpio and a close trine to Pluto in Virgo in the 12^th by minutes conjunct the AC in Virgo.

Do not see much written about this so input welcome here but I see Eros has an orbit of 643 days similar to Mars at 687 days and is in relative proximity to Mars ergo the relationship to Mars especially in terms of erotic nature or the particular expression of our sexuality. Actually, yesterday, the 13^th of October, saw Eros’s third and last pass for me and man has it been significant.

The first pass was in April roughly corresponding with dissolution of a highly dysfunctional relationship that I felt trapped in for various reasons and one that was sexually frustrating in a peculiar way. She also had Eros conjunct Saturn and with her, it seemed to operate as one would expect with her own sexuality limited and restricted by Saturn while for me it seems to involve me choosing partners whose sexuality limits and restricts my own. She was 20 years younger and extraordinarily beautiful but sexually it was like having sex with a living sex doll and perhaps part of my natal position’s effect upon my personality and behavior is denial that sexuality is meaningful so I said to myself, “Well it’s just sex and it’s not that important” and, to be fair, it was not just the sex that was the problem. My thought all along as an astrology with a bent for evolutionary astrology that this relationship had a karmic attraction which I think was exactly right – aka a Soulmate Speedbump.

The asteroid Psyche is considered along with Eros and at this time Psyche is near my AC/Pluto in trine with Eros in Capricorn. Without going into the whole gestalt of my chart, Psyche in natal is on Chiron asteroid and Jupiter in Aquarius has been conjunct to that this year by retrograde stationing direct recently exactly on that Psyche and therefore stationing direct only a one degree orb from the Chiron asteroid. So the theme of this for me has been linked to Chiron and to healing of the Chiron wound and healing of I guess I can say, “Sexual Wounds” obviously from my chart going back to childhood and beyond. The retrograde hit of Eros to my natal then on May 13^th corresponded almost exactly the dissolution of this relationship that very much needed to end and constituted a release for me.

Now I find myself in a relationship that I can only describe as the most healing and harmonious relationship of my life wherein sexuality is fully expressed and reciprocated in a way that I had found only once before in life and then only for a brief time that in retrospect showed me at the age of 57 that great, passionate and fulfilling sex is actually a possibility in life. The synastry with this relationship and synchronicities involved are numerous and significant and clearly this is a healing relationship that was seemed to be at inception to be a “Gift from God”. She has not triggered me once in three months and that may sound like laughably short period to celebrate anything but that a woman could go for three days without triggering me was before her a seemingly impossible prospect and that is on me, not women, ergo the “Gift from God” for she feels the same way.

 An Army of Butterflies

Let us unleash now an army of butterflies to rain down peace, prosperity and justice upon the face of the planet. Our butterfly army flies the only flag that is not a hideous lie, the flag of love, moving inexorably like light passing through light and under this delirious onslaught of butterflies even an aircraft carrier the size of a small city must acquiesce. Cold heart CEO’s, sociopathic politicians, predatory lawyers and all the monsters of modernity disappear in a colorful swirl of butterflies. This timeless multitude of Butterflies dismantles the murderous drones from the skies along with the air forces of the world. Everywhere around the world this dedicated army of butterflies relentlessly pursues the wicket and systematically deconstructs the cruel, inhuman metal of the monstrous, unholy machine that our humanity has become. After only one long day, the army of butterflies lay down to rest and when they awake in the light of a new day, they are scattered aimlessly across the lands now restored to harmonious beauty as peace descends upon the lands in peace and love and human arms now open wide and grateful hearts open wide to the world. The people of the world awake shaking off the evil spell of The Machine that had seemed so real and purposeful only a day before fully centering themselves in their human body’s no longer lifeless cogs in the wheel of the machine but living spirits of flesh and blood and bone.

Personal Metaphysical Essay, "The Astral Train" Analogy

 

As with much in life, “The Astral Train” started w a y back in children one night when my mother was putting me to bed, thinking maybe I was seven? She was New Age before New Age was a thing, following a mishmash of I’d call it “Mystical Christianity” and Zoroastrianism with a liberal sprinkling of Taoism. This is one of the core memories of childhood that stands out strongly before I had extensive hypnotherapy to recover childhood memories ever so much as I can:

I am in bed and mom is sitting on the side of the bed trying her best to explain multidimensionality to me in her own special way and it stands so vividly in my sporadically episodic recollection. I am very little in this one memory in bed kind of Mom is tucking me in I think and she’s saying, “Honey, you know how when you turn the knob on the radio and the station you are listening to turns to static but if you keep turning then you get to another station?”

I say yes too this and it gets me thinking.

“But,” Mom continues it’s, when you loose that station, it is still there just as the new station that you have tuned into was there before you turned to it … does that make sense?”

She is trying hard to get me to understand I feel this and feel how important this is to understand but it is very difficult but I can kind of see how this is true enough.

Mom sees that I’m getting it and presses into the point, “So this is the way it is in reality there are different vibrational levels like the static, the airwaves, and multiple realities exist just as does this one here with you and I together talking on your bed -”

I have to interrupt because I feel as if I can almost grasp this but not quite and so I ask mom if she can just say that again but slower and she does, patiently but with great determination that it is important that I at the age of seven am familiar with this concept because she feels that now I am “the age of reason”.

I can see that she is hopeful and this makes me hopeful as well and she continues now slower, “So Honey this is an analogy a big word meaning the one thing is like the other but as an example and you know what an example is so there is an astral world where there are things just like here in our world only we do not mostly see it or experience but it is only because we are not dialed into that station, as an example. It is a higher vibrational level -”

She sees she is losing me and goes with a visual I think because she knew how much I loved my electric train set, “Like right here in your room now where we sit here, in the astral world, at a different vibrational level than us, on a different channel of the cosmic radio dial, Honey -there might be a bustling train station!” She said the last with a flourish and a big smile but I leapt off the bed and was out of the bedroom with maybe only one foot hitting the bedroom floor thinking a train was about to run us over with my mom behind me going, “Oh no, Honey, I’m sorry, no it’s not a real train, no one gets run over!”

I calm down finally and, in my child way, it makes some sense to me what she is saying and even understand at some level that this is a spiritual reality my Mom is speaking of but I really do not understand. It obviously leaves a large impact upon me, upon my life really, and I laugh now understanding things with some wisdom and perspective the powerful karmic energy bond that my mother and I share.

So nowadays over 50 years later with much water under the bridge, I speak of the Astral Train in terms of manifestation as a visualization for myself of the 5D reality wherein a given manifestation is en route to my 3D reality from a timeless space of Spirit but nevertheless is quite real and actually in existence literally in spite of the hard, cold fact that it is not yet in my 3D reality. It is a Believe System something Sagittarius and 9^th Housers are fond of naturally. The people on the astral train apparently cannot call us and tell us when they will arrive so manifestations all ways come in what is so often called, “Divine Timing”.

I am exalted whenever I work in toilet paper and I doubt it would be a surprise to anyone familiar with my toilet paper work to hear that it is a clear favorite. An untouched roll of toilet paper makes my heart pound with creative fervor.

This particular piece I call, 'Go With The Flow' and I believe here I exercised a great deal of restraint which adds both an existential irony and, I hope, a compelling kind of tension that I'll just let speak for itself."

How to Look at this Mercury Retro in Your Chart

Synopsis: “Mercury Retrograde is neither good nor bad but will be seen its effect upon you in it’s relationship to your own natal chart energies.” If you don’t like to read, hope you got this far

First thing I do here is to go back and look at the last one, never that far away with Mercury, our most dedicated and regular Retrograder. Look at all of this in your own chart, in January and February 2021 in Aquarius, at how this 10 to 26 degrees of Aquarius impacts your personal energy in natal, progressed, Solar Return and other charts, synastry and composite, if you want to see how this is impacting your relationships. Please do feel free to detach from and disregard popularized Mercury Retrograde notions based upon generalized, “Transit to Transit” energies. This is not about ex’s returning or electronics breaking down but it is about communication - the one pop astro area that is actually relevant. It is mostly, I believe, about personal mental energy, of how we think and how we talk to ourselves within our own minds and how we communicate our thoughts to others and this is the meat of Mercury energy. Mercury is also about details so we must here go into the details to grasp the depths of its impact upon us.

As I write, if go a little blurry with astrology, simply think back to this time frame in January and February to where you were at in life, what was going on with you internally especially and in your life in general. The Chart is a Soul Map of our incarnation but You are the one with Feet on the Ground. Back in January, Mercury hit pre shadow on the 15th at 10 degrees Aquarius and did not clear post shadow until March 13th at 26 degrees Aquarius. (Pre shadow is the degree that the retrograding planet crosses whereby it will then later return after it stations direct and moves forward again crossing back over the retrograded degrees) so here it goes retro at 26 Aquarius, for example, and retrogrades back to 10 Aquarius that it had previous hit on Jan 15th when direct having passed on the 10th of January into it’s Pre-Shadow phase of retrograde energy until it then hits full retrograde on the 30th at 26 Aquarius. Mercury stations direct then at 10 degrees Aquarius on the 20th of February but does not go full direct and clear it’s “Post-Shadow” phase until finally clearing that 26 degrees Aquarius where it started retrograde on January 15th 2021. In general, the strongest impact of a retrograde energy comes with the 2nd, retrograde transit hit but this is highly mitigating by ones exact natal positions. The devil is most definitely in the details so simply look at these degrees in your personal charts to see if they impact these degrees with significant aspect.

The biggest thing here with the present retrograde in Libra is that it I hitting us at similar degrees to the previous one with Mercury having hit pre-shadow on the 7th of September at 10 degrees Libra and not clearing it’s post-shadow until March 13th at 26 Aquarius. A very important element in this, I feel and something to be strongly considered is that on the recent Full Moon in Pisces on the 21st of September was at 28 degrees Pisces to only one degree off of this retrograde stationing direct at 26 Libra. At the full moon, Mercury was a very exact trine to Jupiter in Aquarius and back during the previous Mercury Retrograde, Mercury had stationed direct in Aquarius conjunct Jupiter. I think this is an important energy to consider in this retrograde “Mercury Trine Jupiter, along with in the previous retrograde Mercury Conjunct Jupiter. The previous Mercury to Jupiter impact of the February Retrograde brought the energy of Jupiter “to the mind” Mercury, as conjunctions do, joining those energies together. You have to consider this, again, in natal, Jupiter, Lord of the 9th house, ruler of Sagittarius, about expansion, growth, optimism and religion, belief systems and higher education and foreign travel. What house is that in in your own charts? What aspects is this making to your own charts?

This trine energy or angle of relationship of 120 degrees, which is harmonious energy, is the theme and now in September and October, my guess is that in some sense what was triggered by conjunction of Jupiter to Mercury will be made real now in Libra during this retrograde because the energies of these two retrogrades are trine so then it would be more likely so with any of our natal energy in conjunction or opposition to then also be trine to one another. So we would focus the natal impact of these degrees of Libra, retrograding at 26 Libra on 27th of September and stationing direct at 10 degrees Libra on the 17th of October. In general, this in my mind lends an auspicious flavor to this retrograde but again, we must consider our natal positions that for you, I do not know, of course, so I will speak about my own. One of the most important things that I feel is often left unsaid, is that what we are really talking about here is not The Map but The Ground aka You and more to the point whatever you yourself have made over time of the energies impacted as described above. One person with an exact square of Mercury to Saturn my join the debate team in high school and become later a world renown orator while another chooses to go the other way and become increasingly muted in their voice over time. Even that is a very simplistic example of a very complex interaction involved.

This retrograde of Mercury comes in the midst of retrograding Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus and even Chiron so this is perhaps more “internal” than it typically is and please do think “Internal” when you think Retrograde anything perhaps most especially with Mercury, forget all the electronics and ex’s or you may miss a very important show rising up from the most profound depths of your own mind. Perhaps because I am Mercury Ascendant, Mercury retrogrades always have a strong impact upon me personally but one thing I have seen is that each one is good for one whopper of an insight that can come out of nowhere so be vigilant as these can be life changing insights usually around patterns and routines especially around thoughts and communication.

So for me February’s retrograde hit in my 6th house and my Chiron was highlighted by Mercury’s degrees of station and movement which means also that Jupiter was on my Chiron and comes into it most significantly, my Uranus in Leo, my 12th house, was impacted by opposition energy. In February, Jupiter was sextile to my natal Mercury in Sagittarius on my IC and, to note, my Chart Ruler as a Virgo Rising. My natal Chiron is sextile to my natal Sun in Sagittarius and trine Black Moon Lilith (H13) which is opposite my natal Sun. This is all about deep healing of the Chiron wound which I will not go into at length but as much as can to direct you on how to look at your own energies in this. The present Mercury Retrograde impacts my empty 2nd house in Libra so has an effect upon my chart primarily as it makes sextile to my 4th house of Sagittarius with it’s loose stellium of Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Sun. February found me emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually challenged, let’s say, to the point where I knew serious illness would ensue most certainly if I did not relieve this energy which, short story, I did.

I find myself here in September and October, having made significant life transitions within all those areas creating, in general, a much more harmonious expression of personal energy in emotions, mind, body and soul. The most pressure I feel is around 6th house energy of daily routine especially with Saturn transiting there has been a large overall theme and a challenge still but overall, I see this Mercury Retrograde as offering healing energy within my own mind and expect to experience positive self dialogue in a Libra fashion and an emphasis upon harmonizing and enjoying relationship in every manner, good bad or indifferent but mostly good I feel with this one. I look forward to some welcome relief, frankly, with this year the big themes being Uranus opposing my natal Venus as Saturn squares it and Pluto opposes my natal Moon all as Neptune works over my 7th house squaring my natal Sun. I think it will be a pleasant vacation from a demanding job kind of energy.

Lesson also is that transits are not good or bad and if we think back to all the wonderful things that happened in life, the transits will show reflect this our chart so feel free to go back to the most wonderful day of your whole life, I say, and just look at the transits in the sky that day.
