Life on Earth Poem

under the perfect ease of a night sky
over billions of years seas rising and falling,
our Gaian Mother breathing in, breathing out,
mountains rise up from seas and crumble again
continents move across the surface of the earth
like infinitesimally slow, ponderous Behemoths -
over such unfathomable spans of time what single
thing could resist the planetary processes of change
Powerful enough to transform coal into diamonds?
The Core DNA that is us right here and now
